Some common questions about implants.

What is a dental Implant?

Implants are titanium inserts which are inserted into jaw bone. They act as an anchor. They can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or to support a denture.

How long the process does takes?

Generally dental implant is inserted in the bone when tooth or teeth have been missing and allowed to integrate (process by which bone fuses with implant) for a period of three to six months. After this period tooth, teeth or denture may be anchored (implants may be loaded).

What is an immediate loading of an implant?

Implant science is evolving and this is an option by which teeth are placed on an implant same day. In other words you will have a tooth, teeth, denture stabilized by implants the same day implants are placed in a jaw bone. This is used very widely in our practice and more now so than before. There are many factors that determine your candidacy for this but we will offer it to you if we believe you have the same success rate long term.

How successful are implants?

Implants have shown 90-95% success rates in general. Our practice has experienced success rate in excess of 95%.

Do I need a bone graft?

Success of implant depends of many factors one of them is quality and quantity of bone. Load of function is transferred to the bone through implant. If bone is not adequate or if number of implants used to share the load is not adequate it may lead to failure. Therefore adequate bone is essential. This is a decision made by your dentist on case by case basis.

Where bone graft is necessary it is achieved by number of ways. Bone needed can be taken from other site in your mouth or your body. Donor bone or synthetic bone can be utilized.

How much does it cost ?

Implant treatment has two phases, surgical phase which involves actual placement of implant in jaw bone and a prothetic phase which involved placing tooth or anchor on to which denture is attached (prostheses). When denture is anchored or fixed on implant cost varies it ranges based on option chosen.
Cost varies from case to case. We make it affordable for our patients. The fundemental philosophy of our practice is to improve the quality of life for our Patients.
